Aaron Kim

Rev. Aaron started ministry work in NYC back in 2004, diving into para-church outreach across schools in the city. He studied the Bible and Theology at Nyack College, earned his M.Div. from Drew University, and later completed a Master’s at Columbia University, where he focused on International Social Welfare. Since joining Crystal Church in 2009, he’s led a variety of ministries from college and young adults, to children’s and missions.

These days, Aaron leads the English Ministry with a heart for guiding believers to find their calling, equipping believers, deepening faith through Word and prayer, and building an embracing multi-generational and multi-cultural community where it’s safe to serve in new ways and grow.

He also serves on the board of No Longer Strangers Refugee Ministry, bridges his love for faith and academia by coordinating research at Columbia, and offers faith-based consulting to help young people discover their identity and calling as they navigate college, career, and life decisions.

He and his wife Kristen, married since 2015, call New York their home, the Knicks their team, and Crystal their family and the village that raises their two God-fearing kids.

Dong Sung Kim

PASTOR of CHILDREN’S EDUCATION MINISTRY

Pastor Dong Sung joined Crystal Church of New York in 2013, and he currently serves in the Children’s Ministry. Prior to coming to Crystal, he had served in mission organizations and local churches in the area of youth and worship ministry. He holds a B.A. in economics, M.Div. and Ph.D. (Biblical Studies) from Drew University (where he met his wife, Rev. Wenshuang). Since 2023, he has been teaching at Drew as an Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible with interest in Asian American biblical interpretation and children in the ancient world. As a pastor, scholar, and parent, Dong Sung enjoys sharing his multiple intersections of ministries and life-experiences with the congregation. He and his three children are enthusiastic supporters of NYCFC, an NYC local soccer team in MLS, and love going to the matches together.

WenShuang Lu

pastor of CHINESE MINISTRY

Pastor Wenshuang launched the Chinese Ministry in Crystal in 2011, and the Mandarin-speaking congregation has now grown as a vibrant ministry in our church. She used to work as an interpreter for pastors, teachers, and mission teams in China. Since her move to the U.S., she has been committed to serving Chinese families and communities in New York. During weekdays, she also serves students at public schools as a paraprofessional. In her free time, she enjoys growing plants in her mini garden at home.
